My father was a naval seaman when he met my mother. After they got married she followed him to a few of his postings, San Diego, Nantucket. When he left the service they settled down in the south suburbs to raise their family. Over the years he taught me about electronics, computers, humor, and instilled within me the ability to analyze and solve problems. I was proud when he was there when I graduated from medical school, although slightly embarassed by the large video camera he was using to film it.
Two years ago on Veterans Day he passed away in his sleep. I had just started a new position at a medical clinic and he knew that I was doing what I loved. I am sorry he could not be with me Monday when I open my own medical office, but I know he’ll be there. There is much of my father in me, so when the children come to see me at my office they will also know my dad as well
